Christopher Sebela's sharp, gig-economy thriller Crowded reaches its tenth issue with a cover by Ro Stein that crackles with tension and unexpected intimacy — a close-quarters moment between two characters, one visibly stunned as the other leans in for a kiss, while a wide-eyed dog watches from the side with perfectly timed bewilderment. The burst of energy radiating behind the central figure gives the whole scene a charged, almost surreal electricity that makes you want to know exactly what led up to this second. A genuinely fun piece of 2019 Image Comics storytelling that keeps delivering surprises right through its cover art.
