Steven A. Gallacci's Birthright launches its three-issue run here, with cover art by Monika Livingston setting a warmly emotional tone: a large anthropomorphic fox in a green jacket cradles a smaller fox in their arms while a young fox reaches up from above, all of them gathered near a spacecraft porthole with a green planet floating in the deep blue of space — and a mouse in a blue jumpsuit looks on from the left. It's a quietly tender science-fiction scene that balances the vastness of space with an intimate sense of family and belonging. A fine starting point for Gallacci's furry sci-fi saga, published by Fantagraphics in 1990.
