William Van Horn's cover perfectly captures the misery of a city snowstorm, with a bundled-up cartoon bird — wrapped tight in a coat and wearing a cozy hat — bracing against the blizzard while a smaller critter lies splayed out in the snow nearby, apparently done in by the cold. Fantagraphics' Critters #26 from 1988 is a fine showcase for Van Horn's loose, expressive linework and warm comedic sensibility. If you enjoy funny-animal comics with genuine charm and a sketch-like energy, this is an easy one to seek out.
