Criminal Macabre: Cell Block 666 #4

The "Cellblock 666" arc reaches its finale with this unsettling Dark Horse entry in Steve Niles' Cal McDonald mystery series, brought to life by artist Nick Stakal with colors by Michelle Madsen. Tim Bradstreet's cover does exactly what it needs to — a grotesque, decayed creature face dominates the frame, horned and wide-eyed, while a pistol looms in the upper corner, suggesting a confrontation that's anything but routine. It's a fittingly grim send-off to a four-part story that clearly never let the tension breathe.
