Crime Detective Comics v3 #4

This anthology issue contains at least two distinct crime stories. The first involves criminal organizations competing for control—Canale takes over Sam Nichols' trucking operation while Nichols' younger brother Artie, unable to be controlled by Canale, wins a full scholarship to Rushmore University, providing a redemptive arc for the family. The second story, "The Hound from Abroad," depicts scientist Stanley Vorka demonstrating a newly perfected torpedo mine equipped with a mine sweeper that activates an electronic homing mechanism to target enemy ships, as government officials and scientists observe the weapon's successful operation in a model pool.
