“The Jersey Job”

In "The Jersey Job," a bold heist goes wrong when Latin thief Enrico Cardena smashes a store window to steal a displayed gem—only to find it gone. The illusion of the jewel's presence, created by a reflection in the glass, leads to his execution by his own crew, who think he’s lying. Al Eadeh’s art brings the tense, deceptive scene to life in this 1953 Crime Detective Comics issue, where appearances are dangerously misleading.

Latin thief Enrico Cardena is contemptuous of Americans who leave a huge precious gem on display in a store window. He smashes the glass and reaches in, only to find the jewel case is empty. His fellow criminals don't believe his story and execute him. The following morning at the crime scene the manager explains that their stock of gems is actually in the cellar and it is the reflection on the glass case in the window display which creates an illusion.
