A man steals a photograph from a Malibu hotel to hide evidence of a crime, then buries money from a register robbery, but his partner is caught and imprisoned. Months later, the imprisoned criminal contacts his accomplice to arrange recovery of the hidden money, but the plan goes awry when the accomplice is struck down during their meeting, leaving a young boy named Andy as a witness to the chaos. Andy, confused and injured, wanders the neighborhood until found by police, who must piece together the criminal scheme from his fragmented account.
