A criminal named Boland, fleeing from police after a jewelry store robbery, takes refuge in an apartment where he holds several women hostage and exchanges gunfire with authorities. Detective Welton pursues Boland through the city streets and into a subway, where the criminal attempts to escape by jumping the turnstile. Welton corners Boland and learns that the robber's plan was to steal from the jewelry store owner's safe, revealing that Boland held a grudge against the store owner. In the climactic confrontation, Welton forces Boland to turn back to face justice, preventing his escape and capturing the criminal.
