# Crime and Punishment #16 (July 1949) This issue features two crime stories. "A Story of Deceit and Criminal Vengeance" introduces Lester "the Louse" Diller, a bootlegger from the Prohibition era whose criminal reign is brought to an end through police intelligence. "Obey the Law" depicts a criminal scheme involving stolen securities: a man is coerced into transporting bonds meant for Horton, but he becomes entangled with criminals who plan to rob him; when he attempts to warn authorities, he discovers the criminals have already been captured by police working undercover on the case.
