The main story showcases "The Five Faces of Dr. Spectro," in which Captain Atom battles Dr. Spectro and his four duplicates at an aerial retreat. Dr. Spectro's minions capture an elf girl named Kathy, but she is freed when Dr. Spectro discovers her and uses his powers to restore her ability to walk, after which Captain Atom defeats the villain and his duplicates. The issue also includes "Paid in Full," a tale about a truck driver who borrows money from a loan officer and later encounters him again under mysterious circumstances.
High above Earth, Captain Atom faces an unprecedented threat when Doctor Spectro, the Master of Moods, returns—but this time split into five separate beings, each wielding a fraction of the original menace's light-based powers. With their shared goal of reunification and revenge, the five miniature Doctor Spectros construct a hidden sanctuary in orbit and begin systematically raiding defense stations for the rare equipment they need. Now Captain Atom must uncover the truth behind these diminutive doppelgängers and stop them before they recombine into a threat unlike anything he's faced before.
In "The Nightmare Men," a tyrant haunted by nightly visions of masked figures bearing the word "justice" on their armbands finds his sleep shattered by their relentless approach. Though he awakens each time before they can seize him, the dread lingers—until, after seeking help from a doctor, he vanishes overnight, leaving his guards to wonder if the dream was real, and if this time, he didn’t wake up in time.
In "The Man Who Said 'No'," a man’s refusal to fund a scientist’s experiment with a cellular shrinking serum sets off a chain of events that spirals beyond his control. When a lab accident leaves him shrunk to microscopic size, he finds himself trapped in a world where every surface is a towering obstacle—and survival is no longer guaranteed.
In "Paid in Full!", a kind-hearted truck driver forms an unexpected bond with a lonely clerk who has no one else. After the man’s sudden death, his ghost returns to warn the driver away from a bridge that’s about to be swept away by a flash flood.
