☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeIn "When the Earth Was Young!", two alien visitors—exiled for rejecting the inhabitants of their own worlds—arrive on Earth and test humanity’s threat level by abducting young Clem in Hog Hollow. Written by Shane O'Shea and brought to life with vivid, expressive art by Ogden Whitney (pencils and inks), this 1971 Alan Class tale unfolds with a mix of eerie curiosity and unexpected humor as the aliens confront Kentucky Lightning, skunks, and furious hornets—events that leave them utterly unprepared and fleeing back to space with a warning. The cover, also by Whitney, captures the moment of alien unease with sharp, dynamic lines.

A pair of aliens, driven from other planets because they cannot tolerate other worlds' inhabitants, approach the Earth. They land in a place called Hog Hollow, and capture young Clem, putting him through a series of tests to see if the people of the planet are dangerous. Clem believes the aliens to be revenue men from the government...the aliens, however, soon discover "Kentucky Lightning," skunks, and angry hornets, which drives them back into space, warning their home planet never to attempt an invasion of this planet.
