“Batman to the Rescue”

Right on the heels of Batman-mania sweeping 1989, Cracked #248 gleefully throws its hat into the Dark Knight craze with a cover by Rurik Tyler that spotlights a goofy, caped bat-hero lunging into action against a glowing yellow backdrop, a whip-cracking figure looming nearby and a stone gargoyle keeping watch. Promised inside are parodies of Married with Children and Wiseguy, plus the magazine's own Crime Clown — all teased across the top of the cover in classic Cracked fashion. It's a fun, affectionate send-up of the era's biggest pop-culture obsession, packaged with the irreverent charm that made this humor magazine a fixture on newsstand racks.
