Charlton's Cowboy Western #50 delivers a dust-kicking stagecoach confrontation right on the cover: a red-shirted gunman on horseback levels his revolver while grappling with a man being hurled off the top of a Stagecoach Co. coach, a frightened passenger watching anxiously from the window within. Cover art by Dick Giordano and Vince Alascia gives the scene a kinetic urgency that perfectly sets the stage for what the issue promises — "gun-roaring thrills" with Wild Bill Hickok and a Jesse James story to boot. For a dime in 1954, this was hard-riding frontier action done right.
