Hélène finds the city lonely. She gets dressed up and goes out alone, observing the other couples in love. While admiring the beautiful dresses of the women attending a ball, a stranger notices her desire to attend. He finds two tickets, apparently lost, and suggests they use them to crash the party. She falls in love with him that night, but he doesn't ask to see her again. Just before she leaves the city, he returns and confesses that he had the tickets all along. He had a dispute with his girlfriend that night and he had taken Hélène out of revenge, but had also fallen in love with her.
