In Cookie #37, a 10-cent comic from 1952, Starlet and Fritzi’s daydream of stardom takes a funny turn when they sneak off the studio lot in guard caps—only to be ambushed by paparazzi mistaking Starlet for a new celebrity. Their brief moment in the spotlight leads to a flood of fan mail, but the studio’s excitement fades when they realize the fans were all asking about the hat, not the actress. Owen Fitzgerald’s expressive art brings the whole misadventure to life, capturing the humor and heart of a small moment that changes everything—until it doesn’t.

Starlet and Fritzi quit their jobs in the studio mailroom. They wear studio guard caps to get off the lot but run into a crowd of paparazzi greeting a new star. Starlet's photo appears in the newspapers and she gets a lot of fan mail. The studio offers her an acting contract, then learns the letters were all inquiring about the "darling hat" she was wearing. No longer considered star material, Starlet and Fritzi get their mailroom jobs back.
