"Conscience Trouble" follows Jitterbuck Jones, who keeps a nickel that was returned to him from a pay phone at the Soda Jerkerie, only to be chased by a policeman who demands he return schoolbooks he dropped while fleeing. Overcome with guilt about the dishonest nickel, Jitterbuck eventually mails it back to the telephone company in an envelope with a stamp. The second story involves Cookie and friends at a seaside picnic where romantic and comedic situations arise, including a sailor named Kewpie competing for a woman's attention and various mishaps that culminate in a splash into the water.
After swearing off girls for good following an embarrassing pool-rescue mishap, Cookie drags his pal Jitterbuck from one all-male refuge to another—billiards halls, ball games, wrestling matches, the gym—only to find women everywhere he turns. With each attempted escape landing them in wilder predicaments, Cookie discovers that avoiding the opposite sex might be harder than he bargained for in this 1948 comedy romp.
