Convergence Justice League #1
Part of DC's sweeping 2015 Convergence event, this first issue of two spotlights a team of heroines — including a red-haired figure in green scaled costume, a blonde in a star-tiara, a dark-haired woman in Victorian-style dress, and a green-skinned hero — all looking upward in alarm as they are dwarfed by a massive, looming blue figure overhead, with baby bottles and toys scattered around them in an unsettling domestic tableau. Mark Buckingham's cover composition is genuinely striking, framing the women as small and vulnerable against that towering threat in a way that immediately raises the stakes. Written by Frank Tieri with art by Vicente Cifuentes and colors by Monica Kubina, this miniseries promises a fresh angle on these Justice League characters navigating the pressures of Convergence.
