Convergence #5

Halfway through DC's 2015 eight-part Convergence event, issue #5 delivers a cover that charges straight at you — a massive, snarling horned creature dominates the foreground while a fierce, sword-wielding warrior in a feathered helmet rides atop it, chains in hand, bearing down on a robed figure whose outstretched hand crackles with blinding energy. Andy Kubert and Sandra Hope stage the confrontation against a smoldering crimson sky and dense jungle, giving the whole scene a primal, world-colliding weight that fits the series perfectly. With Jeff King writing and the creative team firing on all cylinders, "Liberty?" promises exactly the kind of high-stakes clash the cover so vividly telegraphs.
