Victor and Sonia fall in love and start singing together. But Victor is offered a promising contract to sing without Sonia and she insists their love can survive the separation. Meanwhile, she is offered a smaller contract singing in the provinces. Victor's letters become more infrequent and then she receives a letter from him saying he has met another woman. Heartbroken, Sonia throws herself into her work and becomes a big star. Sonia finally learns that Victor never had another woman, but because his own career had failed he was too proud to return to her.
