This volume collects issue #39 of the 1983 Conan el Bárbaro series, published by Planeta DeAgostini as part of their Spanish-language reprint run of the classic Marvel Conan adventures. It continues the barbarian's sword-and-sorcery exploits in the Hyborian Age, featuring stories adapted from the original Marvel comics by writers and artists such as Roy Thomas and John Buscema.
Conan the Barbarian #3 (1983) features the titular warrior in a tale titled "¡Entre la sombra y el escorpión!" with writing by Roy Thomas, art by John Buscema, inking by Tom Palmer, and coloring by Phil Rachelson. The cover, illustrated by Gil Kane with inks by Tom Palmer, captures the story's dark, adventurous tone.
In "¡La extraña y alta torre en la niebla!", Conan and his companions journey toward Messantia when they stumble upon a mysterious city shrouded in mist. Drawn in by the plight of a captured girl, Conan confronts a monstrous bat-thing guarding a towering fortress, only to see the entire city dissolve into dust after his victory. As the truth unfolds, Conan learns from Tara and Yusuf that the city was a living spell, born from the twisted mind of its deformed creator, Mad Jakk—a sentient trap designed to lure and sustain adventurers.
