Conan #4/1995
In "Tranicos' skatt," Conan escapes the Picts and stumbles upon a cave brimming with treasure—and a guardian demon. Nearby, the Zingaran noble Valenso hides in exile, while rival pirates Strombanni and Zarono close in on the fabled hoard. When Valenso learns the sorcerer Thoth-Amon has returned, he rushes to secure passage on a ship, drawing Conan into the hunt. As the Picts attack and Valenso falls to the demon, Conan is rescued by Aquilonian nobles who enlist him to overthrow their mad king. Written by Robert E. Howard, Roy Thomas, Henrik Hårdråde, Lyon Sprague de Camp, and Röda Sanna, with art by Gil Kane and John Buscema, and inks by Joe Rubinstein and Klaus Janson, the cover by Earl Norem captures the tale’s perilous allure.
