The third volume of the Les Sorcières arc of Complainte des Landes Perdues arrives with a cover that is genuinely hard to look away from: a sorceress in a golden horned crown and sweeping black feathered cloak stands knee-deep in still water within a torchlit stone hall, cradling a stream of glowing liquid in her cupped hands. Tillier's artwork (with scenario by Dufaux) renders every Celtic knotwork detail on her teal dress and every ripple in the water with quiet precision, building an atmosphere that feels ancient and charged. If this 2023 Dargaud release is any indication, the series continues to set a high bar for dark fantasy bande dessinée.
