Comet #87 is an all-star anthology featuring multiple comic strips. "Shorty the Deputy Sheriff" follows a cowboy and his daughter rescuing her from Indians and dealing with a rowdy gang. "Billy Bunter's Bust-Up" continues from a previous issue, with Bunter receiving canes as punishment from the school Head for feeding the poor at Christmas. "Handy Andy" presents comedic situations involving the titular character. "Buck Jones: The Mystery of Buddy Logan" follows a Western adventure story. "Scoop the Comet Reporter," "Smith," and "Simon the Simple Sleuth" provide additional short comic adventures, while "Don Deeds" features an action sequence involving a rolling sphere and characters attempting a rescue in a native village setting.
