This 1944 summer issue of Comedy Comics puts the patriotic Super Rabbit front and center, leaping into action against a swastika-marked enemy tank while two villainous animal soldiers scramble in panic — hats flying and guns blazing to no avail. A small pig character tied with rope watches admiringly from the sideline, hearts floating nearby, as Super Rabbit deflects the attack with his bare fists. It's a ten-cent slice of wartime humor that blends superhero bravado with the lighthearted cartoon energy Marvel's funny-animal comics did so well in the mid-1940s.
