Coffin Bound #4

Dani and Emma Price's cover for issue four of Dan Watters' Coffin Bound is a genuinely arresting piece of design: a woman rendered almost entirely in stark white negative space — cigarette at her lips, choker at her throat, arms spread wide — floats against a richly textured deep-red background crawling with organic, engraved-looking imagery. The contrast between that luminous silhouette and the dense, blood-warm chaos surrounding her perfectly captures the mood of a series that wears its darkness with real style. With colors by Brad Simpson and letters by Aditya Bidikar, "My Dream is Fraying" looks like one of the more visually distinctive chapters of this Image series.
