“No Win”

In "No Win," Codename: Spitfire #11 (1987), a wounded Jenny Swensen—still reeling from burns and armor damage—takes desperate action when her partner Jake Travest is captured by the Sandinistas during a failed rescue mission in Nicaragua. With the experimental Model III M.A.X. armor barely functional, she dons it once more to stage a daring extraction, pushing her limits in a high-stakes bid to save him. Written by Fabian Nicieza and illustrated by Grant Miehm, with inks by Mike Esposito, colors by George Roussos, and letters by Joe Rosen, the issue’s cover by Steve Geiger and Bob Wiacek captures the tension of a mission gone wrong.
