Around 1400 B.C. Moses, leading the Israelites out of Egypt, died and the Lord spoke to Joshua, appointing him in place of Moses to continue leading the Israelites to their promised land of Canaan. Arriving in Jericho, a citadel of Canaan, and marched his army around the fortified city once a day for six days. On the seventh day the army all shouted and blew their horns together and the city was destroyed. Eventually Joshua's army defeated all foes in Canaan and divided the land as an inheritance to the twelve tribes of Israel, and there was finally peace.
