Classic Star Wars #8

Two figures in yellow gear battle a massive, tentacled sea creature in what looks like a turbulent underwater or coastal setting — Mark Schultz's cover pencils and inks bring real urgency to the sprawling, ink-dark beast and the divers fighting to survive its reach. This 1993 Dark Horse series continued reprinting Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson's beloved Star Wars newspaper strips, and issue #8 kicks off "The Night Beast Part 1" with a creature encounter that feels right at home in that pulpy, adventure-serial tradition. It's a compelling package from a creative team that clearly relished putting heroes in over their heads — sometimes literally.
