Mauricio gets a job as a menial worker for a circus. He had once been part of a trapeze act called "The White Eagles" that toured small Spanish towns. He also had the love of the owner's daughter. But when an attractive juggler joined the circus, she got him an opportunity with a French circus on the condition that he take her with him. Iris wants him to stay, but he dreams of being famous. Unable to convince his other companions to leave with him, Mauricio left. But taking the trapeze after drinking too much, he fell and hurt his back, ending his trapeze career.
