“Bricciole di luna”

In "Bricciole di luna," the quiet rhythm of a summer seaside romance takes an unexpected turn as Pietro, a mysterious diver in skin-diving gear, leaves small treasures from the sea for Marina each day. Written by Rosa Collado and illustrated with delicate precision by Carmen Barbará—both inks and pencils—this poignant tale unfolds beneath the golden light of a fading season, where secrets, longing, and unspoken feelings drift just beneath the surface.

During the summer, Pietro had emerged on the beach in his skin-diving equipment each afternoon to give Marina a different gift from the sea. When her friends had first seen him in the water, they panicked and ran away. So Marina made up a story about him being a poor aquatic creature who could not live without water and that if his secret was revealed, he would not return. But when Marina's boyfriend and another girl row up during one of Pietro's visits, Nicolo seems to be through with Marina. With the summer ended, Pietro declares his love for Marina, but she still misses Nicolo.
