“My Shattered Dream”

In "My Shattered Dream," department store clerk Mary finds her budding romance with owner’s son Dennis derailed when her coworker Sylvia plants a cruel deception. Drawn in by the quiet drama of unrequited feelings and workplace tension, Mary’s heartbreak takes a surprising turn when she learns she was the true star of the very ad campaign she believed was mocking her. Norman Nodel’s expressive artwork and Dick Beck’s precise inking bring emotional depth to this classic romance, capturing the bittersweet ache of misunderstanding and second chances.

Department store employee Mary is attracted to Dennis, the owner’s son, but fellow worker Sylvia also wants him. When Dennis and Mary go out on a date, Sylvia tricks Mary into believing Dennis was using her as the “before” pictures for an ad campaign. Mary quits and moves home, but one day discovers she has been chosen as the central figure in the beauty ads. Dennis arrives and says Sylvia was behind the original scheme, which Dennis abandoned because he loved Mary. Mary and Dennis reconcile.
