Children of the Whales #8

Volume 8 of Abi Umeda's *Children of the Whales* presents a striking cover dominated by a blond, eyepatch-wearing young man whose tattered, ethereal clothing swirls with violet and smoky energy — he holds in one hand a small, dark creature and in the other what appears to be a delicate, blue-haired figure rendered tiny against his palm. The imagery radiates an unsettling sense of power and fragility in equal measure, perfectly capturing the series' haunting blend of fantasy and menace. Viz's 2019 release of this volume promises another beautifully illustrated chapter in Umeda's atmospheric saga set adrift on a sea of sand.
