Chic Young's Dagwood Comics #96

Chic Young's long-running domestic comedy strip gets another dose of slapstick charm in this 1959 Harvey entry, and the cover says it all — Dagwood has clearly hammered his thumb instead of the nail while building a doghouse, sending stars flying as he howls in pain and the family dog leaps skyward on its chain. It's the kind of cheerful, relatable mishap that made this series a staple of mid-century funny-book racks, and at a dime a copy it was hard to pass up.
