Chic Young's Dagwood Comics #72

Dagwood Bumstead's morning routine takes a chaotic turn on this December 1956 Harvey Comics cover, where a wild-eyed Dagwood — in his pajamas and bolting upright in bed — takes a frantic swing at a ringing telephone, sending gears, sparks, and comic-strip energy flying in every direction. Paul Fung Jr. captures the beloved Blondie strip character with infectious slapstick energy, and the "B-RING!" sound effect practically leaps off the bright yellow background. With the story "Hunter's Headache" waiting inside, this is a fine slice of mid-1950s all-ages humor comics at their most gleefully expressive.
