Dagwood Bumstead's fishing trip has gone spectacularly sideways on this June 1956 Harvey Comics cover — perched on a rock in the middle of a lake, he's tangled in his own line, his rod is bent into chaos, and an indignant green fish has just smacked him square in the face. Chic Young's wonderfully expressive cartooning captures that perfect storm of small disasters that only Dagwood could attract, with a tackle basket and his sandals scattered around him completing the scene of cheerful catastrophe.
