Charlie, Kirk and Gina are flying to the U.S. when they spot a ship on fire. The plane lands to offer help and armed pirates rob the plane. The ship was not really burning, but Kirk swims out to it and really does set it on fire. He is hit by a bullet, but Charlie swims out to get him and brings him back. The main target was Doctor Croft's bag, holding a million dollars worth of pigeon blood rubies. Croft invites Charlie to come to his mountain lodge while Kirk recuperates. Croft then receives a series of threatening notes and finally the rubies are stolen.
