The penultimate chapter of Ales Kot's four-issue Image series arrives with a cover that's as quietly unsettling as it is beautiful — a woman's face rendered in deep magenta brushwork, her wind-swept hair dissolving into abstraction, while a stark band of blue cuts across her eyes like a horizon she can't quite see past. Morgan Jeske and Sloane Leong's visual sensibility is on full display here, pairing minimalist white space with that expressive, almost feverish linework to create a mood that feels both intimate and uneasy. With one issue still to go, Change #3 makes a strong case that this 2013 series has been doing something genuinely distinctive with its aesthetic.
