"The Curse of Morgan Kilgane" follows Jeremiah Zarneau, a withdrawn antique shop owner who discovers a half-forgotten knife and a mysterious scroll in an old bureau drawer; the scroll transforms the knife into a weapon of violent death. In the moonpool-themed story visible in the opening pages, a supernatural entity claiming to be the soul of the moonpool dooms a man named Mike Carway to lose his soul to the supernatural forces of the waters after he fails to resist its supernatural call during a full moon.
