This volume collects the first part of the Castaka prequel series, set in the universe of The Incal and The Metabarons. It follows the story of Dayal, the first ancestor of the legendary Meta-Baron lineage, exploring the origins of the family's brutal legacy. Written by Alejandro Jodorowsky with art by Das Pastoras, this edition is the German-language release from Egmont Ehapa, collecting the initial chapters of the saga that predates the main Metabarons saga.

A 2008 issue from the Castaka series, published by Egmont Ehapa, features the story "Dayal - Der erste Vorfahre" with writing by Alejandro Jodorowsky, Hartmut Becker, and Paul Derouet, and artwork by Das Pastoras, who also handled inking and coloring. The cover was created by Das Pastoras, who provided both pencils and inks.
