Set against a smoldering crimson sky and the haunting silhouette of ancient Roman ruins, this ninth volume of Cassio — subtitled L'Empire des Souvenirs — carries a brooding, atmospheric weight from its very first glance. Writer Stephen Desberg and artist Henri Reculé frame their dark, cloaked protagonist standing alone amid crumbling columns and temple facades, a figure caught between history and shadow. It's a striking visual promise from Le Lombard that this 2015 entry in the series has both grandeur and melancholy to spare.
