“A Saga of the West”

"A Saga of the West" kicks off in 1951 with Warren Tufts writing and drawing this gripping early chapter of Casey Ruggles’ journey westward. After leaving the California Volunteer Militia, Casey sets out with Hans and his adopted daughter Chris, traveling through the Midwest—just beyond Detroit and toward Chicago—while quietly pursued by the daughter of Jean Lafitte and her loyal servant Jason. The story unfolds with quiet tension, grounded in the era’s frontier spirit, and the cover by Warren Tufts captures the mood with a stark, evocative line.
