The second chapter of Carthago: De Nieuwe Stad arrives in fine style with "Het vuur van Venus," a title that suits this cover perfectly. A heavily armored warrior charges forward, sword raised and eagle-emblazoned shield in hand, leading a column of soldiers through walls of roaring flame — while above them all, the ghostly, dark-eyed visage of a woman looms over the battlefield like a divine presence. Ana Koehler's linework brings both the chaos of ancient combat and an air of mythic mystery to this 2012 Daedalus release, written by Fabrice David and Grégory Lassablière.
