“Beauty Queen”

In "Beauty Queen," Cynthia’s journey from a shy girl with braids and braces to the newly crowned Queen of Gull Island is marked by a heartfelt memory of Frank Osborne—the only one who ever saw her as beautiful. As she prepares for the next pageant, news of Frank’s injury in Vietnam shifts her priorities, leading her to leave the spotlight behind and find him. Written by J. Gill and illustrated by V. Colletta, this touching story captures a quiet moment of connection, with a cover by Ernesto R. Garcia that beautifully frames the emotional weight of the tale.
