In this 1967 Topps classic, the Captive American finds himself in a courtroom of his own making—literally—when he’s suddenly served with a subpoena for allegedly desecrating 239 American flags to craft his iconic suit, all while trying to stop Dread Skull from stealing the Statue of Liberty. Written by Roy Thomas and Len Brown, with dynamic art by Gil Kane and Wally Wood, the issue blends patriotic satire with superhero absurdity, all wrapped in a cover by Gil Kane and Wally Wood that captures the chaos in bold, striking detail.
