Hunted by relentless enemy forces across a 500-square-mile cordoned area, Savage and Bryan escape to the sea in a desperate bid for survival. At an army base in Alaska, military officials brief Savage on his new assignment: he must test combat pilot skills and new equipment under dangerous conditions by engaging in mock combat operations flying between Japan and Alaska, with the goal of maintaining tension and separating U.S. and Soviet forces in the region.
Captain Steve Savage, a jet ace, is assigned to escort transport planes flying the dangerous Arctic route between Japan and Alaska—a corridor plagued by communist fighter attacks and mysterious sabotage. When a transport catches fire mid-flight, Steve rescues the crew, but his investigation uncovers a troubling pattern: a nurse aboard the doomed plane has survived three separate acts of sabotage, and Steve begins to suspect her involvement runs deeper than mere luck. As he sets a trap to expose the truth, he discovers the conspiracy may be far larger than anyone at the base realized.
