When the Shroud appears to Latimer in his office, twisting the doctor’s past into a tale of humiliation and betrayal, the line between memory and madness blurs. Now, Latimer is convinced he must carry out the Shroud’s command: kill Captain Paragon.
In "Dweller in the Darkness!" from Captain Paragon #1 (1972), Phantom Lady is drawn into a chilling vision when the ancient Azagoth reveals Capricorn’s dark plan: Alizarin Crimson has been sent forth to unleash plague and ruin. With no time to spare, she sets out to intercept the deadly force before it spreads.
In "Episode Two Starring... Miss Marvel" from Captain Paragon #1 (1972), Miss Marvel races through the city, tracking down Captain Paragon. After stepping in to help a woman being robbed, she catches a police radio report placing Captain Paragon at Latimer Laboratories—pulling her toward a new lead.
In "Episode Three" from Captain Paragon #1 (1972), Captain Paragon awakens in a cell at Latimer Laboratories, disoriented and trapped. With Mara’s help, he begins to unravel the truth behind the Shroud’s deception—only to realize the manipulation runs deeper than he thought. As the mind control unravels, the Shroud vanishes, leaving Captain Paragon and Mara to escape before Proxima arrives.
