While aquaplaning, Captain Midnight encounters coast guards and receives an urgent radio call, learning of a sabotaged military operation involving a water tower supply at a Japanese camp. Captain Midnight must infiltrate the enemy position, disable their equipment, and prevent the tampered quinine from poisoning the marines, all while evading enemy forces and navigating treacherous jungle terrain near the water tower.
Johnny Blair and his fellow C.A.P. cadets prepare for their final graduation test—a mock raid on a U.S. Navy carrier using dummy bombs—under the watchful eye of Captain Midnight as instructor. When enemy agents sabotage the test by substituting live ordnance and incapacitating Hangar Harry, Captain Midnight must race against time to prevent disaster and expose the spies before the unsuspecting pilots unknowingly attack their own ship.
Sergeant Twilight leaves Captain Midnight's team to start his own fishing business, but when he takes a charter group out on the Podunk, Jr., he discovers his passengers are actually smugglers using the fishing boat to move contraband from South America. Locked in the hold and later forced to walk the plank, Twilight must survive sharks, bullets, and his own bumbling ingenuity—before calling on Captain Midnight to help round up the criminal crew and stop the runaway vessel.
Captain Midnight and his assistant Icky arrive at a malaria-stricken Pacific island where Japanese snipers have pinned down American Marines, carrying an ingenious plan: get the enemy to ingest Radonic Salt, an invention that emits invisible radar-trackable radiations. To infiltrate the Japanese camp and access their quinine supply, the duo gambles on being "captured" by Major Yomata, a cruel officer obsessed with collecting rare butterflies—and they'll need to outwit him at every turn. It's a high-stakes game of deception and quick thinking to save the sick Marines before the Japanese launch their assault.
