Captain Marvel Jr. #37
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis charming April 1946 issue features one of the most delightfully self-aware covers of the era — young Freddy Freeman, alter ego of Captain Marvel Jr., grins at his very own news-stand, stocked with Fawcett favorites including Whiz Comics, Captain Midnight, Master Comics, Funny Animals, Wow Comics, and Don Winslow of the Navy, while a bold "Out Today" poster behind him spotlights Captain Marvel Jr. himself in full blue-and-gold regalia. It's a clever, warm snapshot of 1946 newsstand culture, rendered with confident linework by cover artist Bud Thompson. A bottom banner teases "The World's Mightiest Boy Saves a Man Who Fell Up!" — promising the kind of imaginative adventure that made this series a staple for young readers of the era.
