“Moon-Traps And Paradise”

This January 1979 issue of Marvel's "Spaceborn Super-Hero" promises two wildly different adventures in one package — "Moon-Traps on Titan" and "Close Encounters in Kentucky" — and the cover by Herb Trimpe delivers on both fronts with vivid energy. Up top, Captain Marvel and a purple-costumed companion are ensnared by the crushing coils of a giant serpentine creature on the alien surface of Titan, a crashed spacecraft looming in the background. Down below, a yellow-suited figure confronts police near a squad car amid what appears to be a crowd of onlookers, grounding the cosmic action in a surprisingly earthbound setting.
