Captain Justice #6
In "The Massacre," journalist Lance Harwood stumbles upon a dying soldier in the desert, the sole survivor of a brutal Indian attack. With the man's final words ringing in his ears, Harwood flees a pursuing band of warriors and plunges off a cliff into a rushing river, barely escaping with his life. As he struggles to reach safety, he presses on toward a distant cavalry regiment—only to find them surrounded by a vast, advancing force of Native warriors. Written and illustrated entirely by Monty Wedd, this gripping 1951 tale captures the tension and isolation of a man caught between survival and duty, with every panel rendered in the artist’s distinctive, evocative style. The cover, also by Wedd, captures the moment of desperation with stark, dramatic detail.
